AXT, Inc. is a material science company that develops and manufactures high-performance compound and single element semiconductor wafer substrates, including indium phosphide (InP), gallium arsenide (GaAs), and germanium (Ge). These substrates are used in semiconductor and optoelectronic devices when typical silicon substrates cannot meet performance requirements. Headquartered in Fremont, California, AXT also operates a subsidiary in China (Tongmei) for manufacturing and related functions.
