About Foundation for Black Communities (FFBC)

The Foundation for Black Communities (FFBC) is Canada's first-ever philanthropic foundation dedicated to investing in Black communities. It aims to ensure every Black person in Canada can thrive and that Black communities have agency in defining their own future through grants, collaboration, and policy influence.

Products & Services

Black Ideas Grant (B.I.G.):Grants to support Black-led, Black-serving, and Black-focused organizations with initiatives and research addressing the needs of Black communities. Includes versions like B.I.G. 2.0 (2024) and B.I.G. 3.0 (2025).

Investment Readiness Program (IRP):A program in partnership with Community Foundations of Canada to deliver funding for social purpose organizations, with a focus on stories of impact in Black Canadian communities.

Ontario Youth Wellness Grant (OYWG):Funding to support projects and systems that positively impact youth wellness through sports and recreation in Ontario's Black communities.

Vaccine Literacy Campaign:Provides $10,000 grants to over 15 Black-led organizations in Alberta and British Columbia to support COVID-19 vaccine literacy.

Black Medical Student Bursary:A bursary program to support Black medical students, launched with a celebration at Toronto Metropolitan University.
