Safelight is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency based in Henderson County, NC, dedicated to supporting survivors of interpersonal violence, sexual violence, and child abuse. Their mission is to create hope, heal lives, and change communities by providing comprehensive services and programs to help survivors transition from crisis to sustainability, offering free support in a safe environment.

Products & Services

Child Advocacy Center:An accredited center that investigates child mistreatment, providing prevention, advocacy, prosecution support, and services for child abuse and neglect.

Counseling Center:Offers free individual and group counseling for children, adolescents, and adult survivors of violence, abuse, and exploitation.

Family Advocacy Center:Provides a central location for legal, law enforcement, and medical advocacy services to survivors.

24/7 Emergency Shelter and Crisis Hotline:Operates a shelter with 13 rooms and 40 beds, with 24/7 staff support and a crisis hotline for immediate assistance.

Job Training and Sustainability Program:Focuses on financial independence through employment and housing services for survivors.

Outreach for Prevention and Education:Delivers prevention education and training to break cycles of violence and build healthy relationships.

Community Engagement:Links survivors to health resources, social services, and lethality assessment programs.

Resale Store:A store whose proceeds support Safelight’s efforts to aid survivors of violence and abuse.

Dandelion Café:A local eatery offering lunch service and catering, with proceeds supporting Safelight’s mission.
