Sequana Medical is a pioneer in the treatment of fluid overload, focusing on developing innovative treatments for conditions like liver disease, heart failure, and cancer when diuretics are ineffective. They utilize proprietary technologies such as alfapump® and DSR® (Direct Sodium Removal) to address these medical challenges.

Products & Services

alfapump®:A fully implanted, wireless device that automatically pumps fluid from the abdominal cavity to the bladder for natural elimination through urination. It is designed for the treatment of recurrent or refractory ascites due to liver cirrhosis, with FDA approval in the US (December 2024) and CE mark in Europe. Over 1000 devices have been implanted.

DSR® (Direct Sodium Removal) therapy:An innovative treatment under development for fluid overload in conditions like liver disease, heart failure, and cancer. It is not yet approved in the US or Canada, and safety and efficacy statements are based on ongoing pre-clinical and clinical investigations.
