SOME (So Others Might Eat) is a nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C., dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty and homelessness since 1970. They empower thousands each year by providing food, housing, healthcare, and hope, meeting immediate needs while building long-term solutions to help individuals and families thrive. Their mission includes offering material aid, comfort, and transformative programs to vulnerable neighbors in the District.

Products & Services

Housing:Affordable housing programs for single adults, families, and seniors, with 1,295 residents enrolled.

Healthcare:Medical, behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, and dental services, with over 22,000 annual client visits.

Education & Workforce Development:Career training and employer partnerships through the Center for Employment Training, with graduates earning an average of $18/hour.

Emergency & Social Services:Case management, legal advocacy, senior services, and emergency support, serving 75 clients through the senior center and 85,540 through emergency services in 2021.

Advocacy:Building coalitions to drive funding and attention toward eliminating root causes of homelessness and poverty.
